Developing and executing a new ad campaign can be intimidating. Many questions will need to be answered in the process. Planning is key to the success of your new ad.

If you are involved with creating an eye-catching advertisement, you are involved with a crucial aspect of your business. Creating an effective advertisement can be overwhelming for any company. With some research and a solid plan, the process can go smoothly.

Ask yourself questions. Are your customers local, national or worldwide? Is your primary customer base male or female? What is their median income? Which Internet sites do they visit and publications do they read?

Determine Your Customers

Target your advertising dollars to the places where they can be best utilized. Use a common sense approach and advertise where/when your business will gain the most exposure.

Decide Advertising Method

Is a print ad the best option for your product? Are your customers online frequently? Should you partner with other businesses to incorporate Web links? Is a demo DVD the best way to show your product? Choose one or two advertising methods that best fit your niche and focus on these.

Hire a Creative Agency

A creative agency can greatly enhance your ideas and the appeal of your advertisement. An experienced firm will let you know what works and what doesn’t. Decide if you would like to incorporate photography into your new design. Remember that “a picture is worth a thousand words” and photography can be a critical component of your new advertisement. Photograph those aspects of your product that are important to the consumer. Two to three well-planned photographs can greatly enhance the impact of your ad.

Develop a Headline

Grab the attention of your target market. Keep it simple. Decide what message you want your advertisement to convey. Utilize text that provides clear information for the consumer. What would you want to know if you were considering purchasing the product? After the project specifications are determined, request an estimate from your chosen creative firm.

Work with the Agency

Maintain a close relationship with the creative agency to ensure your specifications are being followed. Approve proofs and make changes as quickly as possible to avoid project delays. Provide feedback to the creative agency and ask them to do the same for you. Communication between your business and your creative firm is the key to success on any advertising project.

Measure the Effectiveness of the Advertisement

Be sure to measure the success of your advertisement after it has been released. Conduct surveys, ask customers where they found your company and get external opinions on your ad. If the ad is a great success, you will be sure to remember the concept for future advertisements. If the ad merely garnered lukewarm results, plan to revamp the next advertising campaign and implement a fresh idea.

The major purpose of advertising is to generate interest in your product or service. New photography and graphic design technology have unleashed tremendous possibilities in how items are advertised. Find a creative firm that can meet your needs and exceed your expectations. The bottom line is that you want to produce an ad that has sales appeal for your target audience. Utilize the creative minds on your team to develop an advertising campaign that will “wow” your customers.
